মেক্সিকো সিটির বাসিন্দা প্রেমিকা লেসলি। এদিকে হাওড়ার বালির বাসিন্দা অরিজিৎ ভট্টাচার্য। পেশায় বেসরকারি সংস্থার কর্মী। পরিবারের সদস্য বলতে বাবা, মা। বোনের বিয়ে হয়ে গিয়েছে। করোনায় যখন ঘরবন্দী গোটা বিশ্ব। ঠিক সেই সময় ক্রমশ দূরত্ব কমেছে দুই প্রান্তে এই তরুণ-তরুণীর। ডেটিং অ্যাপে পরিচয়। ক্রমশ বেড়েছে কথাবার্তা। গোটা বিষয়টা এতটা সহজ ছিল না। কারন, লেসলি ইংরেজীতে বিশেষ কথা বলতে পারতেন না। তবে তা বাধা হয়নি এক মুহূর্তের জন্যও। ডেটিং অ্যাপে কথা বলতে বলতেই মন দেওয়া নেওয়া হয়েছে।
বেশ কিছুদিন ফোনেই চলছে প্রেম। স্বাভাবিকভাবেই দেখা করার ইচ্ছে দু’জনেরই। সুত্র মারফৎ জানা যায় অরিজিৎ এর প্রথমে যাওয়ার কথা ছিল প্রেমিকার দেশে। কিন্তু পাসপোর্ট, ভিসার জটিলতার কারণে তা সম্ভব হয়নি। চলতি বছরের ফেব্রুয়ারী মাসে লেসলি সিদ্ধান্ত নেন তিনিই আসবেন প্রেমিকের শহরে। কিন্তু দেখা তো হয়নি, ফোনের বার্তালাপে সারাজীবন কাটানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া তো মুখের কথা নয়। অরিজিৎ জানিয়েছেন, তাঁরা ঠিক করেছিলেন প্রেমিকা এলে একসঙ্গে কিছুটা সময় কাটাবেন, তারপর সিদ্ধান্ত নেবেন গোটা জীবনের।
২৯ এপ্রিল দিল্লি পৌঁছান লেসলি। এদিকে হাওড়া থেকে দিল্লি যান অরিজিৎ। সেই প্রথম সাক্ষাত। তারপর বেশ কিছুদিন দুজন একসাথে ঘুরে গাঁটছড়া বাঁধার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। মে মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহে হাওড়ার বাড়িতে আসে প্রেমিক যুগল। বাবা-মা বরাবরই পাশে ছিল অরিজিতের। ফলে চার হাত এক হতে সময় লাগেনি। গত ১৯ তারিখ আইনি বিবাহ সেরেছেন অরিজিৎ-লেসলি। ৫ জুলাই সামাজিক বিয়ে। কনের সাজে প্রেমিকের গলায় মালা দেবেন মেক্সিকোর তরুণী লেসলি। সেই আনন্দে এখন মজে আছে প্রেমিক যুগল ও আত্মীয় পরিজন।
